ABOUT MICROSOFT TEAMS

Microsoft Teams is a multi-user collaboration platform with real-time chat messaging, online meetings (audio, video), shared documents, and app integrations. All of this creates a user-friendly shared workspace where teachers and students can send unlimited messages, share screens, use over 250 integrated apps, and store 2GB of storage per individual.

The core components:

  • Teams and channels: Continual messaging and conversations. Members can use @username to invite other members into conversations.

  • Document storage in SharePoint: Each team shares a site in SharePoint Online where files are stored.

  • Video calling, screen sharing, online meetings: Able to host up to 10,000 users with in-meeting chat messaging.

  • Audio conferencing: No internet is required with a dial-in number.

The set-up:

  1. Organic Approach: Allow the platform to grow organically. Members are free to do what they want in how they choose to communicate.

  2. Controlled Approach: Choose specific access to certain members.
